We are loving breakfast out on our lovely, crisp, sunny Queensland winter mornings atm!
We had the very best eggs on toast (free range organic eggs poached to perfection on thick cut freshly baked bread and a generous helping of s&p) alongside the yummiest Organic Warm Oats (Steel cut oats which are slow cooked for hours upon hours with butter and brown sugar) at at Blue Bottle Cafe in San Fransisco and we have been searching for a little place that serves a similarly, simple yet perfect breakfast in Brisbane since that day!
Sometimes when having breakfast out we just want something as simple as eggs on toast - but if you are only going to have eggs on toast it really has to be perfect as there is nothing else to jazz it up!!
After extensive research for the best in breaky in Brisbane ... (hard job but someone has to commit right!) here are our top picks!
1. Gunshop Cafe in West End
Try - Pototao fetta hash cakes, spinach tomato & herb sour cream or double smoked bacon, poached eggs, tomato, herbed hollandaise & sourdough
2. Au Cirque in New Farm (no website - 618 Brunswick St, 3254 0479)
Try - Either The Vego Chowdown..poached eggs, avocado, mushrooms, potato and parmesan rosti, wilted spinach and onion jam all served on sourdough or The Chowdown which is the same less the avacado, plus bacon and sausage.
3. Mondo Organics in West End
Try - Mushroom ragout pie with goats cheese and spinach or Char grilled chorizo, herb corn cake, mushrooms, poached egg and sweet tomato relish
4. Flamingo Cafe in Fortitude Valley
Try - Scrambled eggs on toast with a Mrs Palmer & her five daughters juice (banana, pine, coconut cream and lsa honey ice)
5. Confit Bistro in Fortitude Valley (no website - 4/9 Doggett Street, 3254 4001)
Try - 'cheese toast' with poached eggs, sauteed mushrooms & spinach
